Kathryn’s Wine Pick: Thanksgiving
Best Wine to Bring to Thanksgiving?
We sat down with Kathryn Old, manager of Zero Restaurant + Bar, to find out her favorite wines to bring for Thanksgiving weekend.
“For Thanksgiving, I will be bringing a bottle of Arnot-Roberts Trousseau. Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts are lifelong best friends, young & dynamic winemakers, and they happen to be one of my favorite producers that I follow closely.
Trousseau is an interesting grape that is most commonly from Jura, France. It’s an extremely thin-skinned red grape that is pale and almost looks like a rose. This wine is light-bodied, but really intense with an impressive tannic structure. It pairs well with poultry because of the complexity.
My family always cooks traditional southern vegetables, like collard greens and rutabagas. Because the trousseau has an elegant and floral side, it is diverse enough to pair with rich Thanksgiving dishes and my family’s southern vegetables.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and the Arnot-Roberts Trousseau is one of my favorite wines of all time.”
