Wine Spectator’s 2021 Best of Award of Excellence & Zero Wine Program

We are so excited to announce that Zero Restaurant & Bar has been selected as a recipient of the Wine Spectator’s coveted 2021 Best of Award of Excellence, recognizing the quality and innovation behind our culinary and wine experience.

Residing in the heart of Downtown Charleston within the grounds of Zero George’s boutique hotel, Zero Restaurant + Bar has worked diligently to establish ourselves as a must-visit destination. Zero Restaurant is dedicated to curating both wine and culinary menus to delight the palates of all who dine with us. Guests are encouraged to enjoy Chef Vinson Petrillo’s multi-course Tasting Menu with our Beverage Team’s hand-selected classic or elevated wine pairings.

Our beverage director, Megan Mina, comes to us with twenty years of experience at restaurants including Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Carbone, Cafe Alto Paradiso, and Charlie Bird. She utilizes her wine expertise to craft exceptional guest experiences through wine and cocktails. These specially selected wines are paired with Executive Chef Vinson Petrillo’s delectable culinary menu to make for a truly memorable wine-and-dine experience. With an ever-changing Tasting Menu and Megan’s specially curated pairings, enjoy a distinctive experience each time you visit us. “Wine is a universal language, a way to connect with our guests. It encompasses everything – culture, history, science, agriculture, and of course food,” shares Megan.

To delve deeper into the world of wine, join Megan for twice-monthly Saturday wine seminars, where she guides you through a tasting of four versatile and delightful wines. Hosted on our Bluestone Courtyard, these classes are designed to be intimate and interactive; guests are encouraged to ask questions and engage during the experience. Each class is structured for people with all levels of wine knowledge. During the seminar, guests sample wines, and pick their favorite bottle to take home and enjoy!

Our upcoming Sunset Sippers Wine Class on Saturday, July 24th is a not-to-miss event – Megan will guide guests through a tasting of four smooth and easy summertime wines. Guests will also receive a hand-illustrated wine tumbler in addition to their preferred bottle of wine.

Originating in 1981, the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards include The Best of Award of Excellence, giving special recognition to restaurants whose wine programs go a step further.
